Hatteras report

Sunday was the drive day, 10.5 hours from Atlanta (not Flowery branch).

Monday started out warm sailed the 8.5 ffor about an hour, then ...... wind started building quickly and turned N, NE, and cranked, and got cooler. I had a good session on the 5.2, even got out the little Wild board, and it kept building. By the end of the day the 5.2 was alittle too much, and I was beat. Then HOT TUB, good meal and good company. I love this place.

Today (Tues) it's blowing now, early but is supposed to get lighter during the day and then not be much for the next couple of days.

I brought a surfboard, but I sure hope not to use it. I always get beat up trying to surf at Hatteras, and only try it when we dont have wind for a few days.

Just got in from a 2 hour morning session on the 7.0, hit the hot tub and chowed down on some lunch. Fixing to head back out. I love this place.

Just a reminder, WindSense and Gene's Consignment shop are closed until May 2. In case of an emergncy, like you're about to buy some gear from someone else, I can be reached on my cell phone, 404-735-4944.

OK, Sunday wasnt much, sailed the 7.0 but on the Nova board. And MONDAY WAS KITE DAY! Wally who has had lessons, bought a 16 meter kite, and the Real Kiteboarding Zero to Hero video, and Bruce has a trainer kite. So after the video and trainer kite, we tried the kite. The wind was lite, we were able to fly the kite and even do some easy body drags. THEN the wind came up and that kite drug my butt all over the place. I looked like the opening scene in JAWS where that girl was drug around by the shark. It was not alot of fun. I do see where people could get hurt. But it could be alot of fun, under the right conditions and with proper instruction. An instructor would have probably said the winds coming up, we'd better go in instead of my buddies saying it's coming up, go for it. It's real lite right now, Tues Morning, we did try it again but didnt have enough wind, maybe later. And the wind is supposed to come up this afternoon so we shoud be able to windsurf.

No Video and it didnt come back up on Tuesday, BUT..... Wednesday was one of those classic days you come to Hatteras for. It started cranking during the night, I hit the water at 8:00 am on my 4.7 on my small (Wild) board, mid morning I rigged up to my 6.0, broke for lunch, then flattened out the 6.0 and sailed till 4:00. I must have attempted at least 100 jibes, and they still need some more work.

Forecast is for wind again today, I do love this place!

Gene your killing me dude. You will sail more in two weeks in Hatteras than I will in one year here back at the lake!

Thursday was another great day, 6.0 all day long. Forecasts for Fri and Sat are 15-20 & 20-25 kts, I'm starting to get alittle bit tired.

I really love this place.

Gene,

Thanks for the update - I'm planning on leaving today, hoping to get some of the Sat. wind.

Final report, how could it get any better. It did, 4.7 all day (saturday) all day long and RAMPS!. Actually got blown off the water in the afternoon, should have rigged down but was pretty beat and needed to start packing. We're heading home in the morning, what a great trip.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

To be continued, by Barrett and Randy, maybe?

Sorry, I have not reported in yet. Here's what's been happening:

Sat - 4.5
Sun - 4.5/3.7
Mon - 3.7
Tues - 5.7 and 7.4
Wed - 7.4
Thur - 5.7/7.4

AS you can see, there has been a lot of wind. Even the "big sail" days would have been considered great (in my book at least) at home.

Hope to get in one more day on Friday before I leave.

Randy
