Gorge Update

Having a great time, Danny and I arrived Fri around 5:00pm, Joe who was already here was sailing at the event site, we met him there and I sailed his gear for a few quick runs, so around 10:00 pm Atlanta time I was sailing the GORGE for the first time. It wasnt so windy, I was on a 7.5 and 112 liter board, but it was nice.

Saturday we went to Rowena (sp?), it built all day, Danny, Joe and I started on 7.0/6.5/6.0, ended the day on 5.0s.

This place really is cool, the mountains, the current opposit of the wind, the cool, not cold fresh water, it's very nice.

Got to go, forcast is for alot of wind today, Sun and tomorrow. Chuck arrives tonight.

If any of the old time atlantans now at the Gorge reads this, give us a call, 404-735-4944. We dont have you numbers and would love to sail with you.

I Really Like This Place!!!

had a big time today riding big-big swell on a 4.7 at the Hatch.
Fri sailed at the wall it was a bit(very) nuts -- Arlington/Roosevelt was the place to be that day.

We had another good day, sailed the event site, Danny, Joe and I sailed 6.0/5.5/5.0 on 95/85/77liter boards. There is some BIG chop (waves) at this place. It's pretty wild at times. Chuck made it in late in the afternoon and got alittle time on the water.

We hope to get to sail with Phillip, and the rest of the crew around here, soon.

Those of us who stayed got to sail 7's to down 4's in tons of swell and chop this weekend as well. Too bad it was the wind speed, not the sail sizes and the chop was from motor boats. Blum 3

Hmmmm,

No new updates - they must be getting skunked and are too embarrassed to say so.

I was wondering what is going on too. I have been checking the forecast at the windance web site, and it was supposed to be windy the last few days though. Maybe Gene is frightened by all those big Gorge swells (Gene, we ain't in Hatteras anymore) Wink

Well,

The silence is deafening. Another day and no reports. Must be the worst skunkeroo of all time. Poor guys, probably seeing if they can change their airplane tickets to come home unnoticed.

I don't believe it Flipper. If it were 4.7 everyday, surely Gene would be rubbing it our face by now. Nope, they have to be drowning their skunkeroo with an epic week long bender. Their livers have got to be hurting by now - poor guys!

OK, here's the story. I've said if you can sail at Lanier you can sail anywhere, that's a lie. We attempted to sail the Hatchery on monday, on 4.2s, needed 3.5s, got out buts whipped, then went to Doug's beach and same thing happened.

Tues, Wed & Thurs have been good, mainly 4.2s,4.7s and a few 5.0s. We're starting to get the hang of it.

This is the WINDIEST place with the biggest chop/swell I've ever seen. We're still haveing fun, I've sailed 7 days in a row, if you count Monday, getting alittle tired.

I do like this place, (not as much as Hatteras).
