Gault's crew missing in (the) action

Gault's blew solid pretty much all afternoon with a honking peak about 5:00. I was teaching - no other windsurfers out. When it come up strong late, I was wound up on a 5.5 on a Superlight, wishing I had brought the E-Rock - interesting though - way powered with no straps. Attempted a couple of carve jibes, but didn't even come close. Good day - where were the sailors? Sailed Friday PM at VP - light, but nice.

It seemed pretty nice yesterday, but I wasn't sure of lightening... Today might be nice at Galts since it's east... call me if you go.

I wasn't expecting any wind and had other things going on. It sure did look windy around West Cobb in the afternoon though. I wondered about the storms too. Sorry I missed it.

BTW, the WX channel was showing video of windsurfing in Minnesota on their "Road Crew" segment. /Bill H.

We did a road bike ride in the morning and was too tired to go. Today (Sunday) I am at work. I had no idea it was going to be that good or I would have cancelled the ride. I love Galts when it is east.

This summer has been riding and running. This cool snap has got me thinking of sailing again. I am 25 pounds lighter and ready to sail. Maybe I can get on a plane a little earlier. Can't wait!

jibes, Hey Mimi. Was just sitting here thinking about sailing and thought of you. Are you ready to go? It will only be about 3 more weeks and we will get a few days. Did you get your board? If so we will kick but this fall. The 138 is awsome. See you soon.

Alan,
Got the 138 and it's smooth as glass on a ride. I LOVE it! I hope I remember how to sail as it has been more than 2 months... Am anticipating a great fall season and will plan to go to the Fall Clasic in October. See you on the water!

Hey guys,
I am just curious, where is the Gaults? I went to Sunrise Cove yesterday around 2:00 and the wind was kicking up pretty good. I was using a 5.5 and it was almost too much for me, I guess it is because I am a newbie. I was really happy though because I finally have figured out upwind and downwind. I was steering that baby like I had been on it for years...LOL!
Hope to see y'all soon,
J.J.

look at places to sail on the left menu for directions

- it's the most popular place on allatoona and works well on east winds

JJ,

You should have posted on the web page that you were going to sail at Sun Rise Cove yesterday. If I would have known, I may have joined you, I just got a brand new Severne 9.0 Gator sail I'm dying to get wet. Also, I've just sold a beginners setup to a guy in Athens and he may have joined you (or us.)

Anyway, if you want company, post your plans to sail on the "who's going today" section. It's always more fun to sail with a group and most of us are looking for any excuse to go sailing.

Notrojiber,
I sure did, and I had a blast!!! I was a bit frightened just being out there alone being a woman all by myself, shoot men have to be careful also I guess. I felt more at ease when I got into the water though.I figured it would take one crazy and desperate person to drag themselves into the water to try and hurt me. I was the only person out there. there were a few people who parked and just sat in their cars while I set up and took down my rig. Yes indeed I would love the company next time! You're soooo right sailing w/ more people is way more fun!!!

Dang, that is a long drive. I 'm glad it paid off!

I know you have heard this before, but I would still recomend Julliette as the best lake to learn on -- and it is 2 1/2 hours closer for you. That's 5 less hours of driving!

I went there last week, and the only public area is the boat ramp. Is there a better place to put in at? It is sooo much closer and I can go sail after class @ Macon State, Sweeeeeet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just what I need after a tough day in class.

I am getting this info seconhand, but you can launch from the campground -- if you buy a season pass (which should cost less than the price of gas to Lanier!).

Back in the early nineties, the park was completely closed for a year due to a double murder. When that happened would would launch next to the boat dock. From there you can work your way over the main campground penisula and then walk your gear out to the tip. Yep, it is a pain, but we use to do it all the time.

Yep, it costs $60.00 in gas to get me to Lanier. Thanks for the info. I put a call in to Alan, so I am expecting to get more info today. And hey, the next time I go out I'll post it in the who's going today forum. More people = more fun.

J.J. -- ask Alan to give you Jon Danovic's contact info. He has been windsurfing at Julliete longer than anybody, and he can get into the park during the offseason.

Hey Speedy!!!
I have tried launching from the camping beach area, there was no wind, so I didn't even attempt to paddle out into the major lake area. There is a lot of local boat action there. I wouold be willing to try it again if someone would want to go out w/me. let me know if you want to try it.
