I posted at the end of a previous report, but I wanted Patrick and rest of Galts gang to see this. First day of Fall, sunny, warm and windy. I'm leaving at around 10 to get there. See you on the water!
Galts report: That was one of the best calls I ever made! It was whitecapping non-stop when I got there at 10:45 and continued until about 2:45. By 3PM when Chris P and Doug showed up, things slowed down drastically. Sometimes, timing is everything in this business. It was sunny, warm, and Allatoona flat. It must have been a steady 13-15 mph. Hope someone else got out earlier on the other bodies of water and enjoyed the wind.
"Timing is everything" even in Oklahoma. At 5:30 PM when I rigged, it was solid 4.7. Stayed that way right till I got to the middle of the lake, then it started dropping off. Was able to plane in gusts for a little while, and practice some jibes till there was little hope of planning.
Not a total loss as I just rigged a 10.0 and went out on Scott's 161 Explosion and sailed till just after sunset. Actually an 8.0 would have been better as it was a little OP'd at times (about 15-20 mph).
Today's looking like 20's to 30's with gusts to 40+. Woohoo!
