So how was it at Galts? I thought about going, but G-ville was reporting 9kt about 9 am, so I went to Vann's Tavern expecting the best case scenario would be a 9.0. I rigged the 9 and quickly discovered that unless I ate a whole case of spinnich, it was too big. So I went to 7.2, and soon wished for something even smaller. (Which I did not bring since I was *so sure* it was going to be pretty weak.) It did eventually drop down to where 7.2 was very good. Lots of whitecaps and holes weren't that bad. Overall it was a very strong day, untill 12:30-1. After that I quit, but looked like the big stuff would still work pretty well.
Only 3 of us showed (counting me) by the time I left. I suspect the lame forecasts discouraged a number of people. (Couldn't have been the mist and gloom??)
Lately the models and the forecasters have really been too pessimistic - there have been a number of days lately where the forecast was light and variable, but where it really was in the 10-12 mph range. Kind of odd, because more often than note the models have been too optimistic.
Randy,
The wind seemed to diminish as the morning progressed. By the time I had to make a decision to go around 12, the wind was off and on. When it was off, it was comletely still. I was in touch with Chris P and we decided not to go. I certainly look at the forecasts, but always look outside before making a final decision. Mimi

Galts was great on Saturday (10/14). Just at the point of starting to whitecap. Where was everyone else?
