Galts Thur 10/11

Sailed about an hour at 4:00. Righteous 6.5 conditions with many long planed up runs.

Met a couple guys who sailed there back in the 80's and 90's. Their first time out in 20 years. I think one guy's name was Kent. Knows fast Eddie B & Fred Day. Looked like vintage equipment. Refered to mast length in feet and has aluminum masts.

Cool! Did you tell them to drop by here and visit?

Your comment about vintage stuff just inspired an article.

Really fun day at Van Pugh, 11 sailors I believe. Sail sizes ranged from 4.2 to 6.5.

Awesome day. It was nice to get the cobwebs out when the water is still warm. My first twenty minutes having been off a small board for three or four months were comical. Nice west which made for my favorite swell to play on over by Aqualand.

Yeah, I mentioned the website to them. They didn't know about it, although they did remember the newsletters.

Did you talk to Eddie O? He called me sometime after 5. He seemed worried someone was stuck out in the lake with a broken aluminum mast. (Which seems impossible to do.) Did you see any of that? (I was having a bit of trouble hearing him so I may have misunderstood completely.)

There is no off season.

Oh, aluminum will absolutely break - fatigue plus any exposure to salt water makes things worse. Just like those old chinook booms that would fatigue and break at the screw holes by the boom clamp. Hope the situation got resolved and everyone got home safely.

Randy,

I can in about 5:15 and the other guys had packed up and left. It didn't seem like they got to far from the beach area anyway. Well within swimming/walking distance.
