Galts on Sunday

I'm packing up to head out. I know Patrick and Al will be there. Rented the surf movie "Step Into Liquid" and it was pretty neat to see some giant waves. One shot showed a windsurfer at Jaws in Maui having an epic ride down the face of a mountain of water. Then it catches up to him, swallows him whole, rig and all. He must have broke the mast after that one.

Let us know what happened. With the lake being 8 feet above full, is it open for sailing?

There were about 10 of us. Parking lot is closed, water is covering part of it. Parking at the boat ramp, but you have to carry your gear...
We got skunked but everyone sailed and had a good time. Such a beautiful day, warm water, pure fun. Did you go to Lanier?

I ended up going to Van Pugh, got there before 11. It was pretty strong, lots of whitecaps - I started out 6.6. Then went down to 5.8 and it was still a pretty wild ride but after about an hour or so it slacked off. By then lots of people arrived, and probably figured I made it all up about sailign the 5.8, since they were going 7.9 and up. Very nice day, except for the massive boat chop to deal with (did seem like a washing machine at time), which made it more difficult than it would have been if the wind was the only thing driving the waves.

I'm not sure, but I think there is less boat traffic farther up on the lake at Vann's Tavern, though it can get pretty choppy as well.
