Will be heading to Galts around 1:00.
SW at 5-10. Looks like wind direction will be coming from Allatoona Yaght Club.

Went out from 1:00-3:00. Not enough fetch from that direction to get the wind speed up. It was deceiving because the high level clouds were moving very fast. Today was more of a day to work on balance.

Galts Saturday 9/23

someone told me galts was ok on WSW, but I haven't had a chance to try it
hope you had a good week, Patrick
the swap meet at Sullivan's Island Saturday September 30th sounds like a lot of fun, but I can't make it
Alan, thanks for the help and advice on the sail batten, I managed to do a patch job so hopefully it will last a while longer

I am glad you got it patched Linda. Gene is still a good option for used battens. If you can measure it he may be able to check without driving up there. Randy gets up that way often so he may be able to bring it back for you.

If all else fails Tinho or Sandy Point can help but there will be a price for sure.

I still say Gene or Chuck is your best bet.

See you on the water.

Alan, I hope to get on the lake this week and try the sail out. I opened up the sleeve and took the point out as we discussed. smoothed out the end of the batten, and added the measurment of the broken off point to the back end of the batten. Will this work? I'm thinking it may make the batten too stiff. Having Randy bring it is a great idea. I think I have his phone number somewhere. let me see if my patch job works first.

That will work and maybe just as good. It shouldn't have moved the tube part of the batten more than an inch or so. I can't remember how much the batten tapered in the area of the inducer but it is likely close enough. If it doesn't rotate well you might loosen the tension with the allen screw. That should help. It should get you on the water for sure and for us average sailors we would likely not know the difference anyway.

See you soon,
Alan
