Was out on Galts today (3/1). Winds were 3-5MPH with sudden (out of nowhere) gusts to 15MPH. Wind direction was S coming out of the launch site and AYC cove and then out of SE in the middle of the lake. Definitely not a day for a beginner. Interesting wind patterns. The usual gust indications of ripples across the water usually lead to nothing or a sudden wind shift when it got to you. The real gusts seemed to dip down from the tree top height and catch you without any indication it was coming. I believe the south wind direction was not good for Galts. But it was good experience.
