With all the excitement about wetsuits, drysuits and cold weather sailing has anyone noticed that this weekend seems to be shaping up to blow a bit? NW Friday with E Sat, Sun and again Tues and Wednesday according to windguru. Nothing too hard until Wendnesday but a solid 11 - 12 mph base and Easterlies seem to blow above forecast. Thoughts?

Gene,
This might be your opportunity (enough, but not too much) to kite. We've been having fun on surf boards with footstraps on lighter wind days (above 10, under 13). The buoyancy really helps get you up and going so that you can take advantage of the apparent wind without having to give too much ground... You might be able to take a small windsurfer out and get going with that 12 of yours...![Smile](https://windsportatlanta.com/sites/all/modules/smiley/packs/kolobok/smile.gif)
Let us know if you want to give it a try.
Hope to see you on the dark side!

Mel,
Thanks for the invite but I think I'll pass this weekend. I'm heading to Hatteras for 2 weeks coming up (Oct 6) and hope to have this kiting thing down when I return. Then I hope to be able to try it at Lanier. I sure dont want to tear up my Kite or ME the week before heading to Hatteras. When I was in Florida (St Pete) a few weeks back, I did actually get up on the board some, GREAT FUN.
I do hope to sail (WindSurf) Friday and Sat. If the wind's not good for Kiting, come join us!

Noaa hourly weather graph shows it blowing around lake juliette sat/sun/mon and the best wind being tue 17 to 25... hope it materializes
Alan
randy,
soccer indicator looks good for the weekend. games Sat and Sun.
On top of that, I'm heading out of town to Lake Hatteras. So there is yet another good reason to beleive it will blow this weekend in Atlanta!!
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Forecast is looking very good for this afternoon (Fri) with NNW at 14 to 22, AND looks good for Sat, E 13 to 18. I plan to sail Van Pugh today after lunch. Sat's East wind looks like it will be early, 11:00am till 1:00. I also hope to sail Sat, location to be determined by where everyone else is going.
Also, Mel, if you're kiting either day, please post the location and time as Jerry Farr may want to join you. I may want to watch for awhile to see if this Atlanta windsurfer turned kiter really knows how to kite. And Mel, if no other kiters are going today, come join us and kite from Van Pugh, I know you can handle it, unlike some other kiter I wont mention (kidding.)
Everyone try to come on out, Warm & Windy!

Gene,
Warm and windy sounds very good to me!
We'll head to Old Federal today, likely around noon depending on how the wind develops this morning. Let us know how it looks up there.
See you soon!
Mel
Gene, do you think with the water low that Van Pugh would work for launching kites? I was looking at the map and the fetch is much longer 3.5 miles as opposed to 1.7 at Old Federal on a N wind.
The water is very low, with alot of beach (?, rocks, clay, etc.) exposed, and the wind is supposed to be NNW. It's on the way to Old Fed so stop by and check it out.
Or all you kiters could plan on kiting at Van Pugh and if it's not good, then go on to Old Fed, it would only add a few minutes to your total drive time.
Also, Kiter/Windsurfer(?) Mark Woodman, if you go today, I've got cash for you, sold your fin that's been in consignment for a while.

Celine and I are planning on going Saturday morning. We like Tidwell but will go wherever everyone else decides. Gene, let us know where you will be if you go.
Dont know what to say, right now it looks fairly windy, 9:35am, so I think I'll head to Van Pugh. Bill (Windlord) is on his way, Albert G is thinking about it. No early morning Randy report as he's now in Hatteras. Who knows, the internet is not showing much, but Local TV is saying breezy 10-20. Yesterday was an bust, with a forcast of 14 to 22 it blew around 10 all day. AND this morning, it's COLD, in the 60's.

I sailed a little this morning. I was on the water around 10:30 and it was pretty good until around 11:15, then it started slacking off some and by noon it was about gone. Bill H and Scott S came out but didnt get much.
I sailed my 7.5 Ezzy Infinity and 142 liter HiFly Free. I also did wear my shorty but it did warm up quickly and is really nice now.

Our 10-20 tuned out to be more like 10-15 over here in Augusta. I was able ot get my 4 year old on the front of my Kona for a few rides though.
