The Atlanta Rowing Club web cam. It seems like kind a crazy camera angle though. Would be much more useful if it focussed on the river itself. You can "rewind" it to see what was happening earlier.
Out of sheer desperation, and noticing some decent reports from the LaGrange airport, I made a stealth dash down. I had very low confidence that anything would happen so made no attempt to rope anyone else into my delusions of wind plus I left pretty late.
There were bands of dark clouds on the way down but nothing wet. Sailed from the park, West Overlook, upwind of the one by the dam. It was much better than I expected and mostly empty while the one by the dam was packed. Got in a solid half hour and the wind died off. Puttered around for an hour and then the wind filled in and got another solid 45 min as a rain shower passed just north. It is wonderfully flat down there. Just a few jetskis and pontoon boats. West Point has to be on the list of places to perfect jibes. btw, the water is up right now so I rigged in the grass and sailed almost directly away.
When I got home, I checked the airport readings for the afternoon. The airport got very little wind after the puffs that lured me down, ironically. What I had was all very local. It was silly to go but it turned out really nicely.
Forgot to mention that I saw several good sized dead carp (I think) in the water yesterday including the one that I hit at medium speed. Didn't fall because I was able to spit out my prayers in the milliseconds between seeing it in front of the board and watching it hit the mast.
... or maybe they are gender neutral, I don’t know.
I went on a date with a small carp once. Didn't go so well. No matter what topic I brought up, she kept acting shy.
I wish I had known she was a little koi.
Could this be someone we know?

Wow I can’t remember the last time the water was that high. Glad the trip paid off for you.
