Fall Classic

Thanks to all who came and to those who helped out with the regatta. Extra special thanks go to our sponsors- Tim Carter & Windsense, Whitecap Windsurfing and Lisa Osburn who donated an all-inclusive Club Med trip for 2! John Preisler from FL was the lucky winner.

Saturday had pretty light wind (5-10), with very tactical shifts and puffs to make it interesting. We got in 4 races. Sunday was lighter and kind of misty so we pulled the plug at around noon to get people on the road.

Nice weekend for camping and hanging out -- just cool enough for a fire in the newly renovated LLSC clubhouse. Lots of good eats. The Elvis outing turned into a nice boat ride on Steve Haase's beautiful houseboat ("Yes that's a hot tub on top...") when we discovered in wouldn't make it under Brown's Bridge!

I don't have the 6 hrs that a proper post thanking Chris and his associates for doing the regatta would take, although I keep meaning to do it.

Suffice it to say, the regatta is a great opportunity to enjoy the company of other windsurfers in a fantastic setting. Racing is not the important part, hanging with a great bunch of folks for the weekend is. I really hope that Chris is willing to do this again next year and that A LOT more folks take advantage of the opportunity. We have a real treasure here that most don't realize.

Hey webguy, you are so right! Thanks Chris! The event has survived another year. It was fun, even if (like me) you came just to hang out with the surfer dudes/dudette (the awesome Tina Mazenak/FL was the only woman sailor rep - where have we gone?). Chris wore so many hats before/during/after the event, but enjoyed himself through it all and got it done. He even managed to win a race or two so he won't be "selling all his stuff" this year. Can anyone catch that Pat Nugent guy? The highlight for me was "Dave" the wonderkind source of endless amusement - "...there's a fatman in the bathtub!!!" (Sorry Dave, you are really just a big guy, but that song had been running thru my mind from earlier in the day and then, there you were... ) It was a sight, Dave in the hottub, atop the houseboat under soft glow lights with a rather large rubber duckie and more floating around him as he charmed and entertained the crowd...no he wasn't naked, there were children aboard (Whew!). Many thanks Dave for being so much fun! And Steve, thanks for your enormous show of kindness and bravery in weilding (sp?) your houseboat thru the breezy shallows of Lake Lanier for us. Enough from me. You know I could go on and on with details about it all, and about how great a guy Chris really is, so I'll cut my dribbling short by saying - Chris, you're awesome - and I hope you'll do it again next year - All my love, "P".
