Just an outstanding day. Sailed 6.4 from 10:30 to 1, very well powered almost the whole time. I thought it was dropping off at th e end, but by the time I packed up it was blowing again. Mesured 11-17 mph at the start and 13-15 right before I left. Those were at shore. I think it was definitely stronger out a little ways.
These easterlies have been just great lately. The only problem is that virtually every forecast has been 5-10.

Thanks for the update Randy. I thought you would get skunked when you called. I chose to do the family thing and it looks like I made the wrong choice this time. Those east winds fool me everytime.

Sunday might be good to. Its hard to tell. If the direction is more e or ne, and its blowing early I'd be more optimistic it might hold up for a while. If its more North then I'd be less optimistic.
For whatever reasons the wind at the lake lately has been exceeding not only the forecast, but also Gainsvilles reports. I think it has to do with the water temp being higher than the air temp. In the spring we have to opposite problem - cold water and warm air don't mix.
So I'll be keeping an eye on it - if it looks good, I'll try to go.
The forecasts are all over the map, though not many are calling for a strong day. But then, I've seen days forecast to be Light and variable turn out pretty well, at least with a big sail. I'm afraid the wind forecasting models are getting worse not better.
