Cape San Blas

Never depend on a forecast. On a whim my wife & I took off down to Cape San Blas this past weekend with a sketchy forecast of 5-15, but took the gear anyway. Saturday morning we woke up to a solid 20mph so we headed over to the park. I first rigged my 6.6 and and a few good runs, the I went up to my 8.4 and blasted all day long. We had a blast!. After three years of skunking, I finally got to sail there, and it was great. Sunday was about the same until the rain came and shut it down. One note, watch out for stingrays & horse-shoe crabs, I stepped on both while we were there. The crabs sticky thing went thorugh my bootie, but didn't break the skin, and the ray was nice enough to scurry away without swatting me.

We were the only ones there, and btw, I was hot in my shorty.

Re: Cape San Blas

Cape San Blas camping resort, which several of us have stayed at in the past ( offering ocean front camping and cabins ) is going out of business as of April 1st.  I will assume that the camp gound at Indian Pass is still open - does anyone know if it is still open?  The only other alternative is staying in the park (very buggy) or a park cabin or renting a house.  The park's camping and cabins tend to be full especially on weekends and cabins are tough to get at anytime. Motels in Appolicahcola  (sp) are almost non-existent.

Re: Cape San Blas

They have sold the campground to a developer in which they will porbably pop-up some beach houses and rentals on. Indian Pass is still there if you don't mind the showers in which the floor may drop beneth you at any moment, which kinda makes it a little more exciting.

If you plan ahead you can camp in the park, or stay in one of thier cabins. If there's a goodsized group going call anchor realty they do rent some houses out on the weekends if there is vacancy.
