Man, oh man it was really good this morning (wednesday). I sailed 6.0 from 7:30 till 10:30 at Galts Ferry way powered up most of the time. I don't recall ever having such a good day of wind in August.
Based on my recollection, there is always at least one really windy day in July or August. (Maybe not this good, but there is always one or 2 out there.) Maybe this was it for 2002.
Too bad I missed it for W*&#*rk. (Excuse my language.)

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Sailed a 6.4 way powered up Tuesday afternoon and evening fully planing on my terra-sailor. Wind shut down in my area (Chattanooga) by Wednesday morning. Earlier Tuesday Chat airport recorded gusts to 23, man I wish I had got out sooner, on the water instaed of the asphalt. >:(
Thanks for the report Chris. Now I feel really bad that I didn’t go Wednesday morning. Had the van loaded up and ready too, from a session the previous evening. A telecon early that morning with a co-worker with an overdeveloped work ethic (Scott G.) convinced me not to go.
I did at least get to sail on Tuesday evening. The wind was from the North so I decided to try Red Top Mountain right next to Bethany Bridge (Allatoona). This part of the lake is lined up North-South and bordered on both sides by tall ridges. I thought it might create a funnel effect (like the Gorge?). It turned out to be a fairly decent spot to launch. The wind, although gusty, was sufficient for a decent amount of planing on my F2 Phoenix 320 and 7.8. The best spot seemed to be upwind about two miles, abeam Park Marina, just south of the dam.
