I've watched a bit of this lately and have wondered if all you foilers might be studying for tips on technique or potential gear upgrades! (or are you happy going half as fast for .0005% of the budget!? Is that what you call a high EMG? economy made good?) Incredible stuff
I watched the US/UK "match" race (i was more competitive in Clearwater and I suck).
There are technical things to be learned. A lot of our current foil tech was inspired by the AC cycle back in '12-13 on the West Coast that gave people like F4 a big boost. Not a lot of stuff (yet) that's obvious to the average weekend foiler but it's like NASCAR or F1. Some of it is meaningless, some of it eventually ends up in the minivan.
For example, Ineos kept having problems with rudder ventilation. It'll be interesting if they come up with a solution that will eventually end up on windfoil/wingfoil masts.
Today's recap. Light air. Falling off the foil is a really slow. Watch the NZ vs Italy race towards the end if you can only watch one. Ineos continue to ventilate their rudder and look like webguy at Clearwater.
