Sunday’s forecast looks like the day we’ve been waiting for: no traffic, 50F, sunny & good NW wind. I plan to sail the afternoon at VP. Please post if you can go.
Me when I saw it was 66 driving around town today....
Edit: Lost my mind and had to reload the meme without the bizarre typo. The good news Ed is that you won't have to worry about DE. The bad news is it will be 45-50.
I'm planning on being at Saddlers Creek on Lake Hartwell, looks like its 5 degrees warmer if anyone wants a little road trip!!
Langdon and I have done the drive up there before. It's an extra 30 minutes or so but, like our forays to West Point, you can really gain some degrees of warmth by driving a bit extra. Plus it's fun to go someplace new.
Stephen, how far is the main channel from the launch there on a NW?
It is right there! There is a shallows about 100 yards off shore, but after a couple of reaches you get past that and good to go. Mud island can create a bit of a wind shadow, but also once past that spot, the wind and swells abound!

Right - I was thinking of Green Pond. Did you and I foil from Sadlers? We have it marked on our map on the wiki but I was trying to fit my memory of Green Pond and got confused. Thanks for posting it.

From facebook the other day. Lanier. Certainly not going to be an issue Sunday as the wind would be strong enough to push the dome away if there was enough of a temperature differential but a suggestion of that one nice day in April that will bite a bunch of us on the butt.

We foiled from Broyles Recreation area on the West side of the lake, across from Green Pond.

With all this rain the water at Toona can go up quite a bit in one day. However, the beach at Galts will probably be closed until March 1, so you would have to launch from the boat ramp anyway. It can certainly be done, just makes it harder. Toona is a much smaller lake when the water is down.

I am thinking of going a little earlier in the day, probably be there by 10AM. And I can go to LLSC if that helps Clayton, or anyone else looking for a safer setting.

Thanks Haizar, I’ll join you at LLSC. I’ll shoot to be there around 10 as well.

I will try my best to join you.
Temps are in 45-52 range, so no dome effect I hope.

Also trying to make b this happen

ooooo.... Sunday is going to be epic. Get out the small gear. I'll probably be out of town, though.

Would love to try Lake Hartwell in warmer weather and when I have more time. But, looks like I'm a go for VP ~ noon-ish start.
Perhaps, when not struggling into my wetsuit ... AFTER rigging.

With Old Fed closed is VP the only spot for a NW wind on Lanier? I’m still in the early learning stages with the wingfoil, and VP is a bit much.
I might just head to Lake Acworth for some flat water

Clayton:
Flat water with steady wind is perfect for learning. It’s too bad these are the conditions when it’s offshore - pick carefully
Yeah i won’t do that, I’ve already had a few chances to improve my swimming skills lately
I thought I heard someone mention another park that the wingers were going to, but maybe that’s on east winds.
I’d usually go to Galts as it’s a little milder, but Allatoona is something like 12’ below full pool

At this point, I'm back pedaling from Hartwell and looking at Norman. Warmer and closer to home!
