Going.
Scored late today, too. It was fine, very fine. A nice guy in a white pickup said a few people were at old fed, too.
It'll blow harder and more consistently in the cooler months but ripping on warm water is my slice of heaven.
8 was the ticket. No problems at van Pugh. Rode from the Islands to old Fed campground and did a lot of jibes. Some of which worked. Got backwinded off the board a couple of times.
I think that was JB winging when I got there. He had to leave early. Chris got late shift.
If the wind was 10 or 11, the jibes went well. Trying to do them in less still a bit of a challenge. Chris was nailing some of his - very impressive.
Hey, that was me (Stuart). Started out glassy and slowly picked up until I had to leave at about 3:15pm for baby-duty, maybe reaching 8-10 kts. Was working on my low-wind pumping technique both regular foot and goofy with my largest foil - 2400cm2. Despite the low variable wind, I got flying for a couple of decent runs after about 2:30pm and had some ah-ha moments which should translate to smaller foils with more wind.
@Webguy- you looked like you were flying comfortably - wish I had my camera ready before you headed up to Old Fed.
Does anyone know where I can look up historical wind speeds on the lake?
WindAlert app only has archives for the Lake House and LL South , but these are usually lower than middle. Thanks!
Hope everyone survives the heat and wind drought this week 😅

That's a very good one for the last 72 hours. We link it under the weather tab. Always fun to look back on the windy days to see what the wind was really like. Even though Gilmer isn't on the water, it seems well correlated with what we see during the day.

It's not trying so hard today
Not too much wind right now - luckily I brought my 2400cm2 wing 😅
Forecast says 8kts by 2pm , 12kts by 3pm.

Sadly I was not part of the lucky ones yesterday…🥲 - glad the wind picked up for those who ventured out!

Gilmer is our pretty good proxy- here's a good start: https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/Wind_Roses_for_Lake_Lanier The only time it seriously fails us is during spring "Dome Effect" season.
You definitely looked like a light air champ out there. Very impressive. If I'd known you had a camera, I'd surely have stuck around and hammed it up.
