Sunday 7/30?

First there were dots
And then, not
Now they’re back
So I’m thinking of going
Late afternoon, when it’s not so hot
Good

The Sunday crowd and parking lot room is my question. The rest of the week looks about the same for some opportunities for light wind days. I'm itching to see how this DW board works for light wind winging.

Following the fickle dance of the dots, today now looks promising for a NW breeze at Van Pugh. I plan to sail arriving by 11:30AM.

Arrived VP. Wind is starting to pick up. Still lots of parking where we launch.

Heading out - enough wind to foil. Parking tight.

Oh no! Your place?! I'm glad it did not hit the house.

The wind did come in the middle of the day. I was land support while Thea and Garrett worked on their long boarding with a kona 5.0 rig. They did great - vid later.

Also, filmed David kiting:

Tried near Galts / Annatoona. First time this season. A few puffs but not not the 10-12 I saw on forecast. Sad

Wow. Sorry to see that. Those electric wires look dangerous.

This is at Debi’s house. There were lots of people without power after the straight line wind downed many trees in Oakhurst. Fortunately we were at my house but the neighbors said “it looked like Armageddon”- sparks, fireball and massive smoke until they cut power. Except for that, this tree fell rather politely without hitting the house, cars or humans.

Re: Sunday 7/30?

Turns out I had a tree snap in my front yard too that we didn't notice until last night. The reason we didn't notice was the truck that was parked in front. It was there to repair the hole in our patio that opened up the other week. Sad

Yesterday was a nice day on the water but not in the ordinary sense. A friend towed the Cat 25 down to Aqualand with his pontoon boat. Afterwards we crossed over to the other side of the Van Pugh islands. Saw Barrett getting ready to launch. Reason for going over is that someone friend knew had drowned the previous evening and family/friends were trying to get status update. Only thing we saw was Search and Rescue pontoon doing a slow grid search. Motored back home. Wind seemed freshest earlier when we were passing LLSC. Looked like some good 15 mph puffs.

When we got back, we chatted on the dock for a bit and then I returned home. Long day on the water and not enough wind to serve as a distraction from the 15000 things I have to do this week - which the tree didn't help.

Re: Sunday 7/30?

Sorry to hear about downed trees & Gene's house is still not repaired from the previous storms. This morning we had a GA Power rep. come to our dead-end street to discuss burying our power lines underground. I have to gather information from neighbors on power consumption to determine the shared cost.
