Not a lot of wind, but I did manage to break my toe..
Oh wow, so sorry to hear. Did that happen after I left or when you went in the first time? I assume later as you didn't complain about anything like that after the first time?
It happened when i took out the short board after you left. My toe got caught between the mast and the board when I fell off (one of many times haha). I didn’t realize it was broken until I took my bootie off at the very end of the day and saw how bruised it was. It’s a lot more purple this morning.
Sorry about the toe. Its Sunday Morning and the forecast looks like winds will get a bit heavy for my skill level. I still want to give it a shot so I am going to get there earlier, around 10:30am. Hoping the gusts aren't quite as strong in the morning. Got to finally get up on that foil and fly. Maybe I will see someone over there. Neil

Latest NWS model output shows gusts increasing to mid 30s all the way until early this evening. It's going to be a big day out - treat it with respect.
Big day. Saw lots of faces today from the old guard to recent arrivals. Neil flew the wing officially. Kai celebrated a return to the water. Rhett and Jr sailed together, Marcel brought the entire family who looked like they were having even more fun than us (KTM bikes rule!). Some watched and snapped pics: Chris V, D. Wade, Windlord. Hamdi, Langdon, Alan, Gene and I foiled. Z, Barrett, Ed, Eddie and Alan finned. Roland joined Neil on wings.
Chris shot a ton of pics. Hope some are worth posting. If anyone else has pics, please post them. Did I leave anyone out? Apologies if I did.
Richard says (iirc) maybe 8 kites at Old Fed. Big day up there with kites from 9-11m.
I went to Galts Ferry late morning, nice session (5.8) steady wind in the channel.
No other windsurfing pal (they were all at VP)...
Beach area is still close but you can launch from the ramp.

We miss you. Good to read your report. Yes, Eddie B and Bill were slumming it over on the east side.
great pics! glad y'all had a good one. We had our hands full on Hartwell too after a slower than forecasted start (things really amped up after 4pm). We had 3 windsurfers and one kite-foiler. Here are a few quick, low-res screen grabs from some video. (time between two kite-foiler photos, btw, was about 24 seconds, 4 of which were taken up by him slowing down and making a comment about the wind. his silent arrival startled the heck out of me, and by the time I registered his comment and replied.... he was gone )
Hey, would you mind if you shared some captions and I added them to our photo album? Great shots! Thank you for sharing them!
Yeah, that foil thing. I've been known to slide up to people and yell, "Ninja!"
(if I ever get on Lanier.... I'll be warned )
As for the rest...no problem! captions:
pic 1 - Asheville windsurfing friend, Stephen, getting his best air of the evening
pic 2 - for 20 glorious seconds, the evening sun poked through the heavy clouds and lit the water like a switch (that's Western Carolina Sailing Club dead ahead, btw, and Green Pond landing - our go to launch for south-westerlies - is about .75 miles behind)
pic 3 - earlier in the day when winds were lighter, a kite foiler kindly slowed down to say hello
pic 4 - ...but had no time to hear my reply
edit: oh man, now I see the other captions. feel free to whittle these down if too much

Yesterday was fun but the amount of people that showed up made it more fun. Good to see you all.
