Looks like more than a breeze Wednesday afteenoon.
WNW~ 13g22.
Lake is down, The island at OF is now a peninsula.
(If kiters are interested).
I hope to go either to OF or VP around 5.
If it stays WNW I will go to OF if it clocks NW I will go to VP.
Maybe Thursday will be good also

I'm in, around noon, probably VP.

Yep, wind
Too much for me.
I hope to try again tomorrow
We had storms all day in OBX. Morning session with 7.7 morphed into a way overpowered 6.0 (30-40). After some rain and house shaking gusts, went out with 4.7 and had a great evening session powered to the max (25-35).
Having spent the last 9 months on a foil board bit me on the butt. First 20 jibes on the FSW had me overstepping and dragging my toes through the water. Finally got the hang of it in the evening.
Good day. Glad we got some wind at home. Thanks for the pics, Langdon.
Edit: windy tonight. I'm getting motion sick looking at my laptop up in the tower.
I think it layed down a little later. 6.5 at LLSC around 6p was fully powered and then some. Hung out with Bob & Sandy at the club watching big boats racing and an AMAZING sunset.
Is anyone at or going to VP today (thurs, 10/17)? Forecast isn't the best but, having missed yesterday and rain forecast for Sat, I am wondering if it's at all worth going later today or whether a total waste of time?
Btw, even if you aren't there or going today, opinions (based on experience, your favorite wind app, or even plain old gut feeling) are also welcome.
I may go at 3 or so.
Watching the trees and waiting
Gainesville is currently showing 12mph.
Helpfully it will get up to 13 or 14
Here is one way to determine whether to go or what to bring on any given day:
No one says they are going - probably not a good day for shortboard. Bring a longboard and foil/formula if you have room and think everyone is wrong..
1-3 say they are thinking of going - short/formula/foil board maybe but bring a longboard.
4-6 probably a short board/foil/formula day.
6+ I go to Galts likely to be too much wind for me.
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Great info Randy, I will surely refer back to this until I know it by heart. For today, if I go, I am going from work and have formula board and foil on/in the car. And Langdon said he might go. So, except for the long board, i think I am doing pretty well per your formula! Will see.
Langdon, you are closer to there, let me know if trees sway you one way or the other. I will leave work around 2_2:30, about 1 hr drive for me to VP
I guess I am going to Little Ridge. Low risk, low reward?
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
İ hear you and that's closer to me as well (not as close as you are) but, with wind on the low edge of suitability to sailing, I am afraid little ridge is too much risk. Unless Langdon later tells me that trees stopped moving, I think I will try VP.
G'ville reporting 11g17 so I am planning on being at VP around 3:30 or so
A few White caps and gusty on the north side of Sunrise Cove.
I’m headed to VP around 3
Alan
Cool, on my way to VP as well. Likely there around 3 30
Good foiling session for HamdiD, Moredownhaul and myself.
I need to buy a camera with a telephoto lens.
Surprisingly fun day in spite of being a foiling crash test dummy. Langdon seems to have a good handle on this foiling thing though.
