So I have to ask - I notice webster sails pretty close to the water a lot of the time. Why use a long mast? Inquiring minds want to know.
Rougher water, more wind, going upwind heeled windward. I was low in that picture because I was trying to stay upwind of the giant wall Chris was standing on.
In higher wind conditions I fly higher
When going over chop and boat wakes I fly higher to clesr.
It helps having a long mast going upwind so your windward rail is less likely to catch.
Also, I'm an acrophobe.

"Several folks (including Darius) advised me to switch to 90cm mast. Yes, 60cm mast allows you to crash from lower heights (slingshot makes even shorter mast than this just for learning) but the taller mast allows you more reaction time before it breaches and also on the day like today I could have been nicely clearing some of the swells instead of "planing" or "plowing" over them.
I am ready to try 90cm mast next as it has been still waiting in the box."

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
Maybe to induce drag so he wont go sonic.

Looks to me like our foildogs (Wm and Chris) go there a lot.

Great shot, Frame worthy!
