The three foiling amigos made it to the LLSC - Foilmaestro, Langdon and me. Puffy 5-12 maybe? Langdon is starting to get some rides! Yay, Langdon. Chris and I rigged big sails (8.0, 7.7) and had the time of our lives a time that was slightly better than average. It was in the low 70s and we got some amazing light air rides.
btw, for all those coming out for the blow tomorrow - the water is still nippley.
Today was fun, beautiful weather. Especially for February
I was using an OLD Mistral 6.4m no cam sail today and even on a fairly low wind day it pull my 200 lbs of flesh, bones, drysuit, harness, PFD, and an older Starboard Go up onto the foil. And I don't pump a sail worth a crap
My flights are short...and erratic but the ride did go quiet 7 times for me today. It is a Oooooooooo feeling when the board breaks free of the water and sometimes its Oooooo...OOOOOooooSh*+ when things get a little wonky.
Webguy and Tillo is going to cause the scientific community to have to rewrite some of the laws that govern hydrodynamics. He was foiling ( and going fast ) in hardly any wind.
Foildude was cruising all around. One minute behind me and the next he was on the other side of the cove at LLSC
It was blowing pretty good at 10a and 54degrees. I rigged a 6.4 w/fin then it slacked off a bit so I put on the foil and went out. Got quite a few good long low rides. Barrett was there being his usual planing machine self.
William and Chris P got there as I was leaving and it seemed to be picking up again.
It got more off and on as the afternoon went on. Barrett got in some more rides but the holes kept getting bigger so he didn't linger. Marek chose wisely and didn't go out and try to float around on a 95 l. board. Dave went out on his Techno OD and got reacclimated. Chris P had some knee issues and may be on the injury reserves for a while - we wish the best.
Foiled with a 5.4. Got some really nice rides early on and then it was more of a struggle to get off the water as the wind clocked NW. Getting going on even formula kit would have been challenging late. The early birds definitely got some fine worms.
So it sounds like 5.4 - 6.4 was the sail range. Oddly, I was on a 5.5 myself. I have mastered a new trick - my Laydown Kite 360 Jibe, which I will call a Harry Mudd (as opposed to say a Spock or a Vulcan). See if any of your Bonaire kids can do that on the water.

Au contraire Monsieur Webguy - I am student of Kainani's. Her video was about kite looping and I have incorporated kite loops into my bag of tricks, along with her other trick - reverse launching. As for her dad -he's getting good too. She's done a really good job teaching him. Kainani says to kite loop to keep going when the wind is too light - it does work. Sometimes too well.
