Ed, Langdon & I sailed an official ICEBREAKER this afternoon at Van Pugh. There was about 3 inches of snow on the ground at our house in Atlanta, but heading north the amount gradually diminished, until at the Lake there was none. Rigging was easy and not too cold in the sun. Ed was overpowered on a 7.5 & rigged down to a 6.5m. I was on a 7.0m. Langdon rigged 6.0m, but was underpowered.
The wind was good with solid whitecaps. When I came in, I grabbed a photo of my car thermometer at 32ºF, so it was time to quickly derail before our sails froze. It was a fun day, but pulling of the wetsuit was freezing cold.
Ed had some GPS verified high speed runs, I had some visually low speed runs.
Gene came by and we discussed that the roads to Florida are in good condition and need to be traveled on...
Idk about too cold to windsurf but I'm going to try and kite. Gonna head up to old fed after I finish my chores lol.

Back when the Atlanta windsurfing was great it wasn't too cold.
