Anybody remember the 100 rule (something like air temp+water temp >= 100 no wetsuit needed? Or was is 130?)
Depends if you are Trey, David Strauss or us regular folk. Each had episodes of arriving with shorty or less at Van Pugh. How they did it, I have no idea. I get hypothermia in the shower.
I want to say the 100 degree rule was water, air + windspeed (mph). Changed my range after CV shamed me. I'm probably about 135ish when I go long, though.
I had forgotten to pack my neoprene and faced with not sailing I just improvised... I still had my suit on from work so just add water and boom wet-suit...same thing right? Lol
I'll be prepared tomorrow though!
"I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy"
Saturday looking good and Sunday not as ridiculously cold as predicted earlier.
Perfect weekend to go out in my new Windsport
Preview of Sunday when we think we all remember how to jibe. But don't.

I plan to sail Sunday afternoon at Van Pugh. Water temp at Lanier on Friday reported by Corps to be a comfy 62F.

Can confirm. Blew a helicopter tack yesterday. Also confirmed yesterday: I'm out of shape. I blame the weather.

Edit:
Whaat? No wetsuit for me is air+water = ~150ºF
130 = shorty
120 = longy
100 = roadtrip to someplace warmer
Sure, you can "dress for it"– but at some point you're so far removed from the experience, you might as well be home watching it on TV.
I always felt like wearing a drysuit seemed like I was in a space suit.

Going to Van Pugh after lunch
Fun day at VP.
After following Webguys suggestion of mast base position, the Mistral Competition was a blast in higher winds
Yeah who knew it works just fine with a 4.4 M sail?
