I'm in Marietta too, and Galts is about 20-25 minutes away so I go there almost exclusively since it's more convenient. Like Chris said, Easterlies are great there, but we go when it's anything but south.

Thanks, Mimi, I'll be in touch in the morning if the wind looks good. I'm psyched to go windsurfing at a 'new' location'! I hope we have some cooperation from the 'Almighty Wind God' for tomorrow.
Is anyboby going to Lanier or is eveyone going to the BABY Pool?
Gene
Gene, isn't time you tried the Baby Pool again? I'm trying it for my 1st time. I'm sure we could make room for one more 'bather', but you can't bathe naked, you might frighten the 'Wind Gods!!
OK, everyone knows I was just kidding about Gaults being the baby pool, it's good on East wind (as well as anything without south in it) and the water stays very flat, great for working on jibes (not so great for jumping).
I didnt make it out today, what did I miss? How was it at Gaults? Also, if anybody sailed Lanier, how was it?
I had a great time on the Start board and a 5.8. When we first got there the wind was blowing an imposing dust cloud from a huge sand bar further east. That intensity dropped after 2:30 and it was a gorgeous day overall. Those heated bathrooms are so good when you finish up. It was nice to sail and see more windsurf sails than any motorized crafts.
Gene, it was a FUN baby pool today!

So many sailors out in 6.0 conditions today at Galt's that I thought for a moment I was in Aruba...until I went over the handlebars and soaked my naked, balding head in the 46 degree water...whew, what a wake-up! I then hiked back to the truck to put on the hooded vest I had talked myself out of on the sunny shore earlier. Sailors out there were Mimi, Cris P., Al, Patrick, Randy, and Bill 'Windlord' Herderick(sp?)...awsome easterlies; clouds came in and the wind dropped down to schlogging speed(at least for my 6.9 and a shortboard) around 3:30. That's when most everyone called it a day.
I really enjoyed my first day at Galt's. Hope we get many more like it in the future
Vanns 3-5pm 7.8 and Formula Board. Nicely powered. Nice long 1 mile reaches. sailed down to VP (no one there or at VT, either) and up the lake towards Sunrise Cove.
Only bummer was the incredibly intense pain of my fingers thawing out. Felt nauseous from the pain.
I'm thinking more of Vann's Tavern or Tidwell. Alatoona is still pretty low - would have to carry your gear pretty far.

I will seriously consider Galts if you go. Call me anytime in the AM if that's your destination. I haven't been sailing since October!!!!

I'm looking at Gault's Ferry, too. I'd like to know if yall go out tomorrow, since I've never windsurfed there(but it's only 25 minutes for me!).
I will pray to the gods of wind tonight.
