When I posted here there was no Official 30 mph thread, but I'll leave this here so the rest of the posts from the peanut gallery will make sense. All in fun.

OK, it wasn't 30, but it mighta been if I'd used Gene's cheater GPS–
Date: 2/23/12
Location: Sunrise Cove
Speed: 29.1 mph
Estimated Wind Speed and Direction: 20+ SW
Sail Size and Model: 9.5 Aerotech Pacer
Board: Equipe II XR (260 ltr)
Fin (include size): Curtis CR-12 51cm
Comments: Water level at 1063 makes a low peninsula right off the launch- rode a gust into the lee of this... Probably ~2-3 meters OP'd.
Longboard +1 (weight +.5 and the jet coming through the centerboard gasket +.5)
Sail 2-3 meters bigger than Gene, PeelK and I were using +1 (Not for the sail itself but for the massive cojones that you had to drag along to keep that sail on the water)
Fin 10-20cm bigger than what everyone else will be using +.2. If word gets out that you were almost at 30 with 20 inches of meat cleaver going through the water, Gene will lose a ton of business.
On an adjusted basis, I'd vote you in.
Buzz Kill.....
I thought this thread was for sailors actually in the 30 MPH club.
