The Fall Classic ~ 43rd Edition!

And... we're back! It's number 43 this year! We are returning to a 2 day regatta with the usual amenities of on-site camping, provided meals and social gatherings. Lake Lanier Sailing Club opens on Friday, November 5th, for camping (free) and tuning up for racing that starts Saturday morning. Please contact Chris V if you want to come earlier in the week. That date is a bit later than normal and right at the peak of fall color so motel rooms may be scarce. Make reservations pronto. Camping is pretty civilized at the club and, new this year, we have a limited number of electrical hook-ups for small RVs or trailers.

Longboards have generally been the call for racing at Lake Lanier but all are welcome. Foilers have made an impressive showing but, so far, lake conditions have put the podium out of reach. Konas or any one design class with 5 or more entries will get a separate start, and be scored as a separate trophy group. Watch the forecast and pack some little stuff as you see fit... it can be a lot of fun!

Non-racers are welcome for the weekend to sail or hang out. Entry for racers is just $45 and includes 5 meals, trophies, cool swag and cheap beer. Meal deal for non-racers is $30. The shirt is a long sleeved polo, tastefully pimped with the embroidered event logo and is available as a separate purchase - $30. There is no pre-registration but please RSVP to if you intend to come.

Please see the Provisional Notice of Race for a list of accommodations, schedule and other info. See the latest info, forecasts and conversation here: https://windsportatlanta.com Lakecam at the venue: http://llsc.com/webcam

I hope you can make it!

Alan "Not so" Sloman
Bob Andrews
Eric Robine

Kurt Schumaker
Mark Powell
Langdon Garner
William "FragWorks" Fragakis
DJ Bobby G
Chris V.
John Jordan

Paul Hansard

Please let me know if I missed you and/or if you are bringing company. I'm counting heads for meals now. Also, I'm working on the possibility of a spectator boat in case the racing is away from the clubhouse lawn.
We've got some really generous door prizes from Zhik, Northbeach Windsurfing and Aerotech/Epic Gear/ Sandy Point. Fingers crossed on the weather– early forecast suggests chilly but sunny. fwiw, the Regatta chair is a cold wimp so it's likely we'll wait for the morning chill to wane and/or keep it brief. Bring neoprene for sure! The firewood bin is stocked and the clubhouse should be toasty. Saturday's suppah is catered and the menu looks tasty.

Toasty and tasty. Good

See you soon!

Re: The Fall Classic ~ 43rd Edition!

Thanks to all who RSVP'd, we're up to ~20 for racing and another 10 or so hangers-on and regatta-curious types. The forecasts are staying with sunny but chilly with east winds at 10+. Did I mention neoprene? Probably a good idea. Campers should be ready for frosty mornings.

A couple of notes on traveling to LLSC– The World Champion Atlanta Braves!! victory parade is Friday starting at noon downtown and going to Suntrust Park on the NW side of town in part via I-75. All the public schools are closed and the expectation is a million spectators on the parade route (probably mostly near the ball park). From the south, I'd take 675/285 to the east side, as usual. Might not be a big deal traffic-wise but people are acting more squirrelly than usual around here.  If you are coming from Charleston, go to Atlanta and then call for directions. Scratch one-s head

From Friday to Monday the LLSC gate code is #9100 (be sure to use the # thing). (If you are coming in before Friday call me for a different top secret access code). Please watch out for deer in the last 1/4 mile before the club entrance on Jim Crow Rd and especially on the club property. There are a lot of them and they seem to be unafraid of cars.

Safe travels & see you soon!

I am hoping to make it. If I do it will most likely be by boat. Weather looks good but a bit cool.

In spite of the light wind and being a bit on the chilly side, it was fun Good
I have some extra shirts and am having a few more made of sizes we ran out of. They run a little big– I'm usually a large but medium is a good fit in these for me. Let me know by tomorrow, Wednesday, if you want one. They are $30 each (our cost).

Thanks to Eric for the cool drone shots. I'll post more soon.
(I'm sporting the shirt in the 2nd photo).
