I've seen it done a few years back somewhere on seabreeze. Kinda like putting on racing slicks on a Jeep, though. Doesn't really bring out the best of either board or the foil. There's probably a narrow wind range of 8-9 where it might be better than a conventional long board or foilboard if you are doing upwind, downwhind. Any less and the extra drag of the foil isn't worth it and around 10 or so, a foil board will absolutely light up a raceboard. For just riding around, it's worth remembering that rarely do foilboards exceed 220-225 cm in length, if for no other reason, since a long nose makes for a juicy boom "cushion". That was a frequent issue the longish Slingshot boards a few years back.
Edit: found the post. I was one of the commenters... The whole thread is worth reading. worth keeping in mind is that foils have evolved a bit since then and foilboards even more.
Hey Bill. If you have any casual interest in longboard foiling, you should get in touch. I've done good a bit of it and found it to be quite enjoyable.I also have some ideas on board design that I would like to pursue.
.
If you just need a place to store it between regattas instead, let me know.
Can you put a foil in the center board slot?
