Help:Making Links on a Page

From WindsportAtlanta.com: Wiki

This wiki uses [markup]. The buttons at the top of the form where you enter your content should be sufficient for most of your needs. However, if you need to do something fancier, this article: [to edit a page] is a good place to start. By using the wiki markup, the web page automates a lot of things for you, including the table of contents, lists, etc.

But Because You Won't Read the F(lipping) Manual

You are looking for quick ways of making links when you write articles

Internal Links (Links inside this Wiki)

Name of My Page
ex.: Lake Lanier

Looks like: Lake Lanier

I want the link to say something different
ex.: About Lake Sidney Lanier

Looks like: About Lake Sidney Lanier . The bar '|' separates the link from its description.

Note that internal links have double brackets and

Also, our wiki cleverly converts spaces in your link to web appropriate underscores so you don't have to. Many older browsers simply won't handle a link with a space in it, so links require a work around such as an underscore.

External Links (Links outside this Wiki)

[http:www.mylink.com Name of my link]
ex.: The Atlanta Boardsailing Club

Looks like: The Atlanta Boardsailing Club

Note that external links are single brackets [ and ]. No bar is required to separate the link from its description. If, for some reason, the page confuses the two, simply put the description in quotes.

Email Link

[mailto:myemailaddress@example.com myemailaddress@example.com]
ex.: [mailto:webguy@windsurfatlanta.org webguy@windsurfatlanta.org]

Looks like: webguy

[mailto:myemailaddress@example.com Joe Windsurfer]
ex.: [mailto:webguy@windsurfatlanta.org Joe Windsurfer]

Looks like: Joe Windsurfer

Again, like external links, single brackets and no bar.
