Myrtle Beach, while touristy, is not known as a windsurfing spot unless you launch straight off a hotel beach (check the legality of that first, we aren't sure if any local ordinances prohibit that).

You may wish to try Oak Island, NC as an alternative. It's about 40 minutes to the north.
