Windsurfing and Kiteboarding in Huguenot Park

General Information

Huguenot Park, also affectionately known as Jibe City Jacksonville, is a 5-5.5 hr. drive from Atlanta. A great flatwater spot (with no jetskis) in a small bay that's great for working on jibes. Ocean sailing is also available on the outside. Check tidal tables before going as when the tide is out the sailing is VERY limited in the tidal basin. When it's in, it's great. Contrary to earlier reports, camping is still available although under the threat of budget cuts. If you want to support camping here, drop a nice, polite, grateful note or email to the mayor's office. You can also camp at Little Talbot Park (251-2320) just down the road.

See the page for Jacksonville for sailing locations on the St. Johns River.

Local Tips

If you have a beach capable vehicle, you may be able to drive out on the beach. Also, if your skill level permits, consider sailing in the river but be aware of the boating and shipping traffic.

There is a modest entry fee. You can also sail in either the ocean or the river if you wish. If you park along the water, make sure you park above the high tide line.
