WindSurfing Mag is coming to visit!

Hey Sailors,

This is Josh Sampiero, Managing Editor with WindSurfing magazine. I'm heading out on a huge road trip to get to the Gorge, with some cool stops planned along the way.

One of the goals of this trip is to meet as many windsurfers as possible- and I hear tell the ABC is having a meeting this Wednesday night - so I'm planning on joining the group to have a beer, hang out, and tell (and hear!) some windsurfin' stories.

Come on out if you can make it - the more, the merrier. I also work w/ Kiteboarding a little bit as well, so it'd be great to meet some of the dark side, too.

Depending on how the drive goes, I might be lookin' to score a sesh that wednesday afternoon, if there's wind. If you're going sailing, give me a shout, seriously! 305-772-5674.

Looking forward to meeting you all -

Josh Sampiero

Whoops! Sorry, everyone, didn't mean to post that in "Kiting".

Josh, it will be great to have you here. Our meetings are pretty informal, a few beers, some wings, and an opportunity to share sailing stories, and plan future adventures.

In terms of sailing opportunities, summer is usually our quiet time (cold fronts don't usually make it this far south), unless a hurricane blows through (come on Alberto!)

We are going to the meeting Wed - they are always enjoyable. I don't think there is a single member that doesn't pay attention to the wind forecasts. We are always hopeful and sometimes, marginally to richly rewarded! Let's see what brews this week...

Linda, I'll bring it. Also, give me a call if you would, 404-735-4944.

And everyone try to make it to the meeting so we can let WindSurfing Magazine know what a great bunch of windsurfers Atlanta has, and welcome Josh.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the great response!

This should be a lot of fun.

I'm looking to arrive in the area early afternoon on wednesday. If there's any wind, will anybody be out sailing? If so, where at? VP? Lanier? Lemme know!

Wed is a maybe - there are some hints we might have a NW wind in the pm, perhaps 10-15 but not really strong. (Then again, that's what we thought last thursday, and had 15-25). Van Pugh on Lanier would be the place to go, directions are under the "Knowledge/Places to Sail" section. Would be cool if it works out. There are usually at least a few of us that would make it.

If you don't have a big board probably Gene of Windsense fame can probably fix you up with something. (His number is listed above).

Hey Ya'll,

Had a blast hanging out w/ you guys at Frankie's last night. Thanks for comin' out!

Hope you all good some decent wind sometime soon - and I hope those of you goin' on that Gorge trip don't get all the wind before I get there!

Take care - Josh

Josh,
It was great to see you at our meeting. We had a pretty good turn out, but missed a few folks, like William, who keeps us all in touch via this fabulous website and very useful forum. Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
