windsurfers of the 90s remember this

Go ahead and watch the other two hours of the video because that's what we'd do at Hatteras when the wind wasn't blowing - hoping that there would be some sudden change. It never worked. Ever.

I used to watch the WC mainly when I was working out or just to make sure the wind wasn't coming up when I not paying attention and to get the radar screen. Once I no longer had the local WC feed I had no reason to watch it. I notice that Channel 11 seems to have a number of WC retreads do the weather. I guess there is life after WC. The computer models we have now (though we had pretty much the same ones back in the day) eliminate the benefit of local forecasts, though sometimes they do provide insight into what is happening and why.

What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.

More than just in Hatteras. I was a junior in college in '94 and I always had the Weather Channel on in my apartment, just waiting, praying, hoping that the wind icon would show up in the extended forecast. Big-time nostalgia kicking in now. I need to pull out my '94 Windsurfing Warehouse catalog when I get home tonight and reminisce about the gear I was drooling over 23 years ago.

Well, the good news is that you can find it on CL for pennies on the dollar. Pennies on the dollar!*

*One of those expressions that, for me, makes nails on a chalkboard feel good.
