Today’s (Mon) forecast seems real iffy, so I figure I’ll go straight to plan B.
Wed-thurs FX is looking much better at the moment - if that holds, I hope to be at the lake.
Change of plans, heading to van Pugh, Barrett's on the way and hopefully is bringing wind. Old Federal report is side on NW, not side on SW, and was only 5 mph, but picking up, got a gust of 10 mph.
I’ll go with Gene’s account of conditions yesterday at VP. What he didn’t mention was how many times I fell in attempting to make foiling jibes. The water’s finally warm enough for me to be willing to fall in, uphaul & repeat. William needs company in the jibe club.
FWIW, a couple of us Asheville folk will be fin sailing from Green Pond on Hartwell today, starting around 11. We'd be happy to see anyone else inclined to make the drive for any reason
I hope to be there sometime this afternoon.
if Alan is 1st shift and Ed/Langdon 2nd shift, then I guess all in-between go to decimals - shift 1.48 for me
Windy and iWindsurf showing 14-20; hope they are right and no 30+ gusts. I will bring 3.7 just in case, that should seal gusts not going so high.
If you are going to Toona let me know.
What happens in a black hole stays in a black hole.
I can go Monday, Wednesday and Thursday if it blows, probably Van Pugh, or Old Federal

Well guess which week I absolutely can't take any time off...
July 19th?

It turned on yesterday afternoon. I went (without toys) to meet my grand nephew at LLSC who’s going to do the beginner sailing week in June. Even saw a few whitecaps at around 5. Sadly the wind was a factor in a drowning near Sunrise.

I noticed the wind came up nicely around 5 pm

Barrett brought the wind and we foiled 100 % of the time.......
well, he brought enough wind for him, but I needed a little bit more,
and we foiled 100% of the time combined, Barrett 95 % of the time, me 5 %.
I think he was actually hogging the wind, because as soon as he called it quits and got off the water, I started getting rides.
It did actually turn out to be a pretty good day.

I'll try to make it tomorrow Wednesday, after 4:00 pm.

Hopefully 4ish for me

VP ETA noon for me.
Alan
Im heading to Van Pugh this afternoon. Can’t miss the big wind.
Barrett
I'll be there, but....
Not sure I'll sail, seems I said that I wasn't sailing anymore when the forecast has a 30 in it. April 1 was 5 gusting to 30+, really wasn't any fun.

I'll let others give a report on the actual sailing but I had fun because of seeing people I havent seen in a while,
Carl who use to be a serious longboard racer a million years ago.
Johnny Lang who lived in atlanta and then St Simons and a few other places whoi is now into Winging.
Alain, who used to live in and sail in Atlanta and still goes on Barretts OBX trips.
Also met someone new, Scott from the Athens area who is into Winging.
And actually Monday when Barrett and I were sailing "My Friend" Mike who use to sail here awhile back dropped by Van Pugh.
I had fun visiting and actaully had fun foiling some even though the wind was 5 to 30+.
