Friday afternoon has hints of being a nice, warm westerly while Saturday morning looks like the makings of a classic fall easterly. As someone who's been wrong often about the wind, I'm watching with interest.

Friday is perking up. Gotta stretch out and limber up - light winds expected.
Edit: Sunday seems encouraging, too.
IDK Webguy - my motto is shown below. But have fun monkeying around.

The dots have been upgraded to line Fri. afternoon. Where to sail with NW when VP is closed? Old Fed or Vans?

We could go to West Bank park (fishing jetty)
Go off downwind 1/4 -1/2 a mile. That would give us some open water with a decent distance from wind obstructions.
I have scoped out the area earlier in the year and there is enough room for 2 or 3 of us to rig at one time .
If we have a gear issue we can walk the dam back or one of them folks with the greenish shirts and white boats will assist us from trespassing on their/our dam.
There are more than one fishing jetty's. Are you talking about the one west of the beach? Or the one on the east side?
I used to sail at West Bank once in a while. I remember looking around for a better place to launch from than the usual spot, which was to the west of the big beach beach and the west side fishing jetty. That launch was pretty bad - you had to swim out past the jetty because it was difficult to sail out past it.
I looked on east side of the park. The parking lot, (b) seemed to be close enough to the water on the east side that if might be possible to launch from there.
Also, the east side fishing jetty, seems to have a swimming beach to the right. A The problem is I don't see any parking in that area. Maybe that is where you are thinking of launching from. Looks like that would allow for a quicker way to get out to more open water than launching from the west side of the park. Anyway, it has been many years since I was looking around there, and I never tried anything other than the usual launch spot.
If you go there it would be helpful to know where a good launch is. I remember trying it on NW winds with my longboard a few times but was never happy with it.

The West side jetty has the parking.
The one on the East side I think just has a trail /path that leads to it.
I was just trying to come up with something different. I know that Old Fed is not always the most popular place to go due to the Islands...and goose poop
I wish we could launch from the east side of the dam but it looks like on a NW we would have 5 hard upwind tacks to make it to open water.
West Bank is closed. Zeta damage.

WB closed again? We are gonna keep on to where we have to launch from Peelskids dock
I plan to sail Old Federal today, noonish.

Thanks Gene. With limited time today to explore new options, Old Fed is the place if wind picks up.

Damn - now there's a record and i can't claim having never seem him get a ride!
Good thing I have pretty poor short term memory.
?
Yesterday would have been an absolutely miserable day on a regular board trying to plane. Gusty as crap. The islands upwind don't help. I still had a blast, though.
Good to see everyone out.
