Windsurfers, particularly in Scandinavia, cannot afford to hesitate a second if they want to windsurf more than 15 times each year. There are so many factors that hinder us from getting to sail.
One thing that comes with civility (and age) is the ability to refine the distinction between "fun" and "not fun".
Hoping for an epic fun day today!!
The paradox, however, is how many times "not fun" becomes "fun" with the passage and reflection of time. I think we refer to these episodes as "adventures".
Go forth and prosper today, my little civet pup. May the winds of epicness fill your sail.
Almost live update, 11:30 Old Fed (but I plan to sail from Van Pugh) -
capping, but not totally filled in, and probably only 7.5.
41 degrees, sunny.
still lots of water.
I plan to (subject to change) windsurf from Van Pugh, maybe around 2:00. Hopefully it will warm up some and blow a little harder.
Have fun guys - and it you don't just think you can look back on this with the passage of time and say "Well I might have been miserable cold, but at least I was doing something I loved."
(Then again, I could just be a Debbie Downer since I suck when wind is in the 20-30 ranges.)

Seems like the last few years the temp has to be my age or higher for me to have fun....it hasn't reached the magical number, so I'll stay home and count my socks.

Wound up a really good day. 15-30 with temps near 50. Gene, Barrett, Dave D. and I rigged 6.0 while ChrisP went 5.2. 6.0 was pretty much powered to overpowered the whole time and one gust late was blowing spray off the white caps. Was able to peel back the gloves and actually feel the boom - that was nice.
Last two sessions have been a pain to get out of the VP hole, though. Sailing off the grass was somewhat better but rocks lurk underneath from the shore line rip rap.
I oversimplifed the formula....
Temperature has to be above my age… but when conditions are below 5.0 then a fudge factor goes into effect giving me veto power over my rule.
I hope to sail in the afternoon. NWS now forecasts 15-25 mph Tues. afternoon with temp in the mid 40's !!!

I'm a maybe. Better get my wetsuit out of the garage and into the house.
