Tropical Systems - it's the water, not the wind

Interesting essay about the necessity of changing the vocabulary we use to describe the potential for harm from tropical systems. Much of this is from the changing nature of them brought about by climate change. The currennt benchmarks (TD, TS, Hurricane, etc. ) are based on the Beaufort system (Force 7 etc) but do a poor job of describing the potential for harm since so much of the damage on land is brought by water (rain/floods).

While we (well, rather me... Blush ) are talking about the weather.

It was actually a warm winter ignoring that whole "everything froze" couple of days in late December.
