Thursday's Epic Report

Well,
Did anyone else make it out anywhere else??? Eddie and I were the only ones out at Galts Ferry. I have never seen so many whitecaps and such steady, strong wind over there. The waves were at least 1-2 feet high. On my 4-7 and E-Rock, I was basically almost dangerously out of control FAST! The gusts were close to 30 and it was hard to adjust to them.
See you in December!

Actually, it's a 4.8, and do you mean the wave board you sold me? I would have been REALLY out of control with that one. Probably would have had to swim back to shore, although I did get to waterstart between the waves a few times on the E-rock...

Hey,

The afternoon stayed pretty much like the morning, although it dropped off to 6.0-7.0 after about 3:30. I left at a little after 5:00 with some folks just getting out (Voltar on his 7.0 comes to mind). I suspect some derigging took place in the dark.

On behalf of myself and the other approx. 30 folks that made it to VP (plus those at Galts), I'd like the thank both William and Randy for their sacrafices to the wind gods. It was huge.

Bill, my pleasure. Hope you weren't out on the Phoenix.

Mimi, that board is designed for 5.0 and lower. It's the board I pulled out when it was 3.7 at Hatteras. It's very forgiving and really dials in in high wind. It would have been a much easier ride than an E-rock as it displaces about 20 ltrs. less (about 83 ltrs or so, iirc).

Bill - your thanks are appreciated. Now, when does everyone want to sail next? I have to schedule an appointment to get a tooth pulled and figure that will put me out of action for at least a day. So let me know when you all want to sail and I wll arrange for my appt. for that day.
