I think I got a photo ( probably blurry) of Shred dog jumping almost as high as Webguy's sail

Everybody picks on the guy with the short 370 mast. Lol

Can we take a moment to appreciate the majesty that is Barrett's camera? I think it's CIA surplus. Scott and I are about 4/5 of a mile away in this pic. The docks behind us are up at Vann's Tavern 3 miles away. Shok

Another example - I was showing these to Lisa last night and she was asking me what the building was in the background. That's the boat storage at Port Royale Marina 4 miles away. I think at that distance you begin to see the curvature of the earth. ShokShok

Re: Thursday 02/13

I need to get a wind blind to get behind. I can not brace against a tree. The tree moves way to much.
It is a challenge to keep the button half way down waiting to see Barrett or Shred Dog bend their knees as they hook upwind 1/4 mile or more away. I have to push the button right then to get a photo of them in the jump.

If I can make a wind blind with an old sail next time and y'all can get closer than the other side of the lake I can probably get some better photos.

I probably took nearly 100 photos.
A big thanks to Barrett for letting me play with his camera and for sorting and editing the photos

Taking those pics is harder than it looks. Years ago in the era of film, Chris V. asked me to take some pics with his very impressive camera and long lens. I tried as he suggested to brace myself against a tree. I diligently took lots of pics.

Several days later, I asked him how the pics came out. He simply asked me: Were you drinking when you took those? Lol

Meanwhile over at Allatoona, the lake is now 8 feet over full. Lanier is almost a foot higher than the other day and unofficially at the second highest level ever but they are pouring water out as fast as they can.

Probably 75% of the photos I took were bad or out of focus.
Thank goodness for digital cameras and that we did not have to buy rolls of film and development them.

I tried really hard to get a good photo of webguy when he was way upwind just to see if I could do it.
I believe that would have been an over 1 mile photo

A good monopod helps a lot. I’ll try to remember to bring mine next time.

The high water didn’t seem as aggravating Thursday with the wind blowing more NW.

The camera has a German Zeiss lens - very sharp at wider apertures.

Carl's Mexican cousin. And, yes you did, Mr. German Turtle Box. Lol

Looks like Tidwell is still open as far as I can tell. Tomorrow morning east, early. Might be good, if you can stand sub 40 temps. Might want to catch it now before the next deluge hits the Tropic of Atlanta and everything is shut down. FOR THE DURATION.

All in all - this is worse than the government shutdown - at least then there was no one on the payroll to enforce the park closings.

I reread the ACE Facebook post. It says that the "beach and ramp" are shut at VP North rather than "park". They do seem to intentionally say ramp vs park on the list. I'm going to assume we're good since no mention of "that sidewalk in the corner". Biggrin

Re: Thursday 02/13

Worst that can happen is you get kicked out. I was kicked out of Galts when it was closed a few years ago. No big deal. They just told me the park wasn't open so I should go ahead and leave. I didn't have to wear a scarlet letter (e.g. "KO") or anything. Now maybe if I had used Barrett's theory about "Windsurfers are exempt" it would have been better than the lame excuses I was sell.

I think if you’re kicked out of a park you’re suppose to go around and tell all your neighbors you’re a park offender.
