Good God No!!!!!!! Run for the hills man... He might as well move to the equator -- does the word douldrums mean anything? I hate to be so negative but I honestly could not think of anywhere in the US that gets less wind than Atlanta.

You are exageratting Chris. I'm very upset that you'd take that tone.
There are plenty of places where it blows less than Atlanta: Decatur, Chamblee, Norcross, Lithonia, Tucker, Smyrna, East Point, College Park, Fairburn, Roswell, Alpharetta, Clarkston...
"will there be wind this afternoon after the front
10-15 mph? "
The NGM thinkgs so. But maybe t-storms too. I'm pinning my hopes on Sat, which is also showing 10-15, but maybe not as strong as today.

Sadly, you are quite right. "Atlanta" that mythical place where the wind is measured (Hartsfield I think) is much windier than most other places, except maybe Dobbins. Now if we could only have them build "Lake Atlanta" or "Lake Dobbins" we'd be set.
In my experience, Lanier and Alatoona are much less windy than "Atlanta", "Dobbins" or even "Gainsville" or "McCollum" for that matter.

Having worked at Lockheed (Dobbins AFB) for many years and parking in the main (B-1 building) parking lot, I'm happy to confirm that a "Lake Lockheed" does indeed exist. It occurs during and after rainy weather. Sadly, the depth at full pool, although quite sufficient to saturate most footwear, will not allow you to use the 65 cm fin your new Techno Formula comes with.
Try it. I doubt anybody would care. The parking lot isn't very full these days. Just do it in the area nearest South Cobb Drive. Heck, at one point Cobb county even used that area for drivers tests.
I dare say you'd generate some interest there because at least a few of the people are into aeronautical things. If they object, They'll only ask you to leave.
Of course you could always get a Lockheed Martin sticker for your sail at the company store. Then you could tell folks your doing tests on a new stealth transport device for special forces troops. 8)
Yes,Virginia, there is wind in Atlanta. :o

Tell him yes. By the time he moves here and finds out for real, it'll be too late.

It's not your imagination Randy.

Atlanta avg is 2 mph faster than every other GA recording station consistently every month through the year.
Yeah, this place would be twice as good (or is it only "half as bad" ) if we could sail in "Atlanta" instead of these other places.

Bill,
I would be satisfied to sail the Lockheed parking lot with my land sailor. Think that would be allowed?
