Just got back from 4 days down in Destin, FL. Saw no other windsurfers (though one board on top of a car), no kiters, and about 10 SUPer's (counting me, though based on what I did in the Gulf, I hardly deserve that designation). They had a local race last month that drew 120 SUPer's from all around the US, and they have a local brand (YOLO Board.) The local windsurf shop now have much more space and inventory dedicated to SUP than anything else I could see (including windsurifng and kiting put together). This thing really seems to be taking off. It seems to be looking a lot like Windsurfing did during the days (before my time) when it was the new craze sport. So where is it headed???
