Took the late shift at VP as had stuff that needed to be done in the morning. The wind had faded seriously and even with rigging big everything, flights were minimal.
Puttered around and chatted with a sailboat when the wind picked up just enough to pump off the water. Sailboat was surprised to see me go from 3 mph to 16 in a flash. Wind stayed up another half hour.
There is something just absolutely magical about getting up on flat water without a whitecap. As much as I love windy days, it's intoxicating to zoom in 8 or 9. I think it's just the release from the water.
I got to Vanns early when the wind was strong & steady with solid whitecaps. Rhett, Hamdi & I were joined by kiters Dave & Michael, who moved here from S Africa.
About 11:30AM the wind dropped off, so I’m glad to read there was still enough of a breeze for you to have a good session in light air.
BTW I doubt the wind was any better at Vanns than VP. The wind was in the channel & especially half a mile out. There was a wind shadow along shore.
Live from Vanns. Whitecaps. Looks steady 52F. Traffic on 985, so diverted to Vanns. Rhett on the way.
