McCollum reporting 12-13 Easterly. Anybody going?

G-ville sounds more like longboard winds 7-8.............

Is the return of football going to help clear out the lake?

The clouds about 1-2k up seem to be zipping along in the ATL.

The clouds were semi zipping along yesterday maybe less than 500 ft above VT.
But the wind would not come on down

BTW - today was the first time in ages that I saw Lanier being reported below full pool. 'Toona is 838 and change now, so it is headed down for the off season.

Welcome!

The regulars on Lanier are rather low key. However, the days that are good for windsurfing obviously correspond to good days for kiting although our wind threshold tends to be a bit lower (we can float and wait out the lulls better). Generally, we'll share the same space at Vann's Tavern and Old Federal. Van Pugh is preferred on westerlies for windsurfing but will probably be closed through the winter for repairs. FWIW, there isn't really the tribalism you might see in some spots. A lot of us have known each other for years and there is a fair amount of folks who have done or do both.

If you don't mind my asking, what is your experience level? Lanier, while the best local option, can be a bit challenging between the tough launches, trees and rather fickle and/or gusty wind. Most of the area kiters tend to make trips to the coast and only appear locally if it's a pretty big day. If you foil, your chances of having fun locally improve.

All the regulars are wind junkies here so if you want a heads up on what days will seem workable, whether you kite, windsurf or windding, just check in periodically.

Case in point Biggrin https://windsportatlanta.com/content/long-tall-sally-91420 I imagine the parking lot at Vanns Tavern will be busy.

I'll be there early as well, but can probably only sail for an hour or two.
