Looking better. Windmapper showing planable gusts. I think the NWS model would show dots if the forecast wind goes from 9 (present) to 10. Last week, the models underestimated the east wind several times.
The only thing making me nervous is that it "never blows on weekends" TM.

What time and where?
morning-ish. not sure where as I need to stop by Gene's to pick a mast so I can get someone their 490 they've been desperately wanting...
I can go after lunch, if it blows.
headed to vp in a few minutes
I may go out at Galts later. 4-5ish
Pretty good day at Galts. Off and on until about six and then it was like a switch was turned on for the next hour with consistent whitecaps from the east. And then, as quick as it came, it was gone. Probably the most consistent winds I have seen in my one year at galts.
That says so much about the wind in Atlanta.
Ed and I went to Van Pugh. Planed about 30-50% of the time with big stuff. Saw a couple of kiters trying to drown their kites in the channel. They had a chase boat. I went over and said hello. They were trying to get a 15 and 17 off the water. It wasn't until about a half hour later that the breeze kicked in a bit.
Ed now has a 490 mast indirectly through the kindness of Alan Sloman. I'm sure that there will be a day this winter when he'll rue its purchase - one of those days where you rig big because it looks pretty light and then the wind gods put the hammer down. We'll let him be happy until then.
I think it only blows when I am going upwind.
Thank you webguy for the mast.
Finally, I was able to sail my 8.5m. I was surprised that I could plane at such a light wind.
May be 51 cm fin helped too. Before yesterday, I thought 8.5 is going to be my biggest sail.
Now I start considering to buy back from webguy 9.5 m .
I may use it on my Bic Nova with a bigger fin on a days like yesterday.
