Sunday 8-25

Where's the party? Wind in the morning and then late in the afternoon. btw, I've updated the East winds page here: https://windsportatlanta.com/wiki/East_Wind_Effect

Also, this time of year, easts are much more common.

Re: Sunday 8-25

I'm keeping an eye on tomorrow afternoon also. Iwindsurf shows there may be more wind over at Galts Sunday. Hopefully it will look dreary enough and rain in the forecast will keep the boaters away and parking lots empty.

Re: Sunday 8-25

Game time decision for me, but I'll be looking for somewhere close, windy, dry andw/o electrically neutral.

BTW - if you were wondering what today was like in the vicinity of the lake, this is a sample.

Wow - ENE Wind in the forecast!!! I prefer sailing at Van Pugh. Good launch with forecast direction & so far not a parking problem in the morning.

Sorry, I've got to get done before noon so I'm going to have to go early. Probably MAP or Tidwell to save time.Depends on wind or rain though. Will post in the AM

Mid Lanier report (I'll let Randy do the Lower Lanier portion)
Van Pugh - Barrett, Pat, Gene, Langdon, Chris P, Chris V, me. Alan and Josh spectated.
Vanns - Ed, Dmitri, Tim, Mauricio, Hamdi and the kite guys: Rogier, Alex and David D.

Awesome day. While the air was a bit chill, the water is very pleasantly warm. 10-20 in the morning, it tailed off a bit and then filled in mid-afternoon. Both Chrises, Landon and I made the trip up to Vann's Tavern where it felt was windier. The kite guys swore that they were done when they put up their twin tips but 15 minutes later they busted out the foils. It was that kind of day.

Hey Gene, when I was rolling up my sails, a ranger came by and asked me if the jet ski trailer in front of the car was mine. I said, "Listen, I'm Gene Mathis and, yes, that's my trailer. What are you going to do about it?" He wrote something down on his pad. (Actually, I just said, "No, sir.")

Re: Sunday 8-25

Al and I sailed at Tidwell about 9ish-1130ish. Al sailed close to 20 miles on his Kona on 7.5, going all the way over to your side of the lake. I started out on 6.0. While getting up on the foil was easy enough, it was too much sail wrestling for me, so I went to my 5.0 which quite a big improvement. Much more fun to foil with a small sail. I used my old wing - afraid to use the new one.

Re: Sunday 8-25

At popular demand, report from Allatoona :
Great day at Galts like you have just a few per year with steady wind.
Sailed from 10 to 2, started with 6.5 but went down to 5.8, great difference. Foiling is a lot easier with a smaller sail.
Got some great flight time, a lot of progress made (I changed the straps locations - moving them backward and out - and it is a lot better now), but still doing touch and go ...
Eddy joined with his Formula and 9.5 for a bit.
I can't wait for the next session.
