William, Ed & I sailed at Van Pugh with really good, steady wind. It started out being SW & gusty with a big wind shadow, but soon smoothed out and shifted West, so I was able to sail back powered up almost into the cove. Water temp. was 46ºF.
FML, rigged for what we saw 8-15 and put up the 6.7 and race foil. Ed was more conservative and finned on a 7.5. Both of us were exhausted by the end. Up in the channel, I could have easily foiled a 4.7. Felt like 15-25 at times.
Before it totally cranked, did a downwinder to Old Fed and saw Langdon, Hamdi, Haizar and Chris P. out. They were all too deep into the hole for me to linger and I knew it was getting windier behind me so I turned back up for Van Pugh. Not my prettiest upwind runs - still trying to dial in the new gear. Did a few reaches with Ed and figured that I should probably take a break since I was sailing pretty OPed. Was hoping to go back at if it started to settle towards sundown.
Snacked and went back out only just to taxi above the water while getting blasted all the way across in some of the strongest wind of the day. Ed was calling it quits and sailed offwind back to the launch and I followed suit.
A good day to be out all the same. One of those times where I guessed wrong on sail size but you can learn a lot and gain more confidence to stay out the next time when conditions change.
Having an appt in cumming earlier today, I ended up at VP a few min ago. 10:35. Pretty steady breeze, very sunny, plenty of parking :). Wind feels plenty for 6.4 for me, maybe smaller
I vote big water. Water will be cold but, hopefully, the sun will help.
I can go this afternoon. I vote for Van Pugh, but will join group for safety in numbers with cold water.

Looks like some are opting for Old Fed while Barrett and I will be at VP.
Pretty good day.
Did not have to pump the 7m much at all...
