Hi!! What wind prognosis do we have for Sunday? Who else is going??
A lot. Check the various forecasts on the front page. Looks like classic 15-25+ day. Sail sizes 4.7-6.5 depending on your appetite for sailing wound up. It should be pretty big in the middle with a nice swell.
Should be a good turn out but I have a family get together.
Edit: Looks like the storm down by Honduras is spinning up more than expected . Things will be interesting here and up the Atlantic Coast Sunday and Monday. Mind the latest forecasts.
Ahh was out of town! I told my wife we had to be back in time for Sunday worship at the altar of the wind. Omw up to old fed in case anyone else is thinking about a late afternoon service!!
Good day overall, cold air but the water is still nice and toasty.
Most of the day I was on 4.7 but for the last 30 min I took Sophie's 4.0 and 70L board and that that was the best 30 min of the day for me.
Overall I would say that Lake Lanier is one of the hardest places to windsurf, weird chop, shifty - swirly wind, but that's all we have close to home.
Photos from today's epic session, including Marek & his hardy girlfriend, Sophie. The car thermometer is accurate. It was 33ºF when I first went out, then "warmed" up to 38º later in the afternoon, before going back down.
A quick clip of today’s wind in Augusta. Go to around 25s to get a feeling of the insane wind. I was on a 4.0 the entire day. Temps were still mild here. A huge crowd here, 2 sailors!
For those of us who couldn't be there, thanks for the pics and video. Got together with siblings and spouses in Greenville, SC - a pretty cool little town. Lots of good food all in walking distance downtown plus a neat ball park Chicago style. I don't think I would have been smart enough to pack the 3.7 so I would have gotten flattened.
Sophia gets props from anonymous sources. She's become quite accomplished. And it all started on my beloved Starboard Start (ftw!).

Personally, I found swimming there to be over-rated. I'd suggest Uber or Lyft if the situation arises.

That's funny. It's sort of a rite of passage thing.
I've had to walk back to VP from Chestnut Ridge in a drysuit.

Count me in Sunday afternoon at Van Pugh. Looks like an epic day at the Lake.

I'm in and I've also had to hitch rides from Aqualand and the campground in wetsuits.
edit - And swam back from BoZo Island, and had to hitch a few rides back in boats, damn.

Preliminary Report, Van Pugh, 11.30. DAMN!
Plenty of parking.
We have CAPS, lots of CAPS. And smoke on the water.
Recorded a wind gust on the beach of 25 mph, wind meter said 44 degrees, but car says 41.

Too much wind for me but Marek, Trey and others made it look easy.

5 kiters at Old Fed on 8-11m kites. Strong and gusty, but still fun!
Thanks for the pictures Barrett! And Thanks to William for facilitating my humble beginnings...
I've got a long ways to go before I can keep up with the other boys, but I'm determined!
Hope to see you all again soon, preferably with a few more degrees in the air!
