You beat me to it. Just imagine how easy to water start it would be. It raises the age old question - when you are using it will you look or feel more stupid?
I hope this catches on. Then Stand Up Garbage Bag sailing won't look nearly as absurd. Come to think of it - it looks like they just took a leftover LEI kite and cut in half to make the "sail" out of.

I'm thinking now that Gene's old broken 9.0 M Monkey kite might have new life as a sail. BTW - this could also be a good way to do things for public service 1.) Show a new path for guys who are failing miserably at kitesurfing and 2.) Unloading some old uneeded windsurfing boards on some guys who are down on their luck.

I like it, even if it can just help people learn more readily - considering it is a soft and light sail. Probably will take a while to develop it to even be close in comparison to the modern sails performance.
Then again, who would ever have thought that someone on this website recommended an inflatable windsurf board? Yes I think it happened a couple of weeks ago.
Just think all you need is a pump to inflate your board, sail, fin and drysuit.

I used to have one for several years. It was a ton of fun. Almost anyone could sail it without falling off. I could sit on it with the kids while they sailed it. On light air days at Hatteras, we used to play bumper cars. It was fun to use for learning basic freestyle sail moves.
Sold it after we got the start which did everything just as well except fold into the back of the van.
(The Mickey rig, while cute, was a POS. The HotsailsMaui rigs we got were 100 times better. Gene has them for sale if anyone has young kids - not mine but I still love them)
You know I just had sort of an epiphany. I'm comparing the picture in post No. 3 to the video in post no. 7 and its sort of dawning on me as to why my idea hasn't really caught on.

Suddenly, this concepts of a gonfiable mast seems a lot more appealing. Its all in how its presented.

I watched that. For science, of course.
I wouldn't be surprised if the local SUP purveyors carry this soon. Or the beach rental places in FL.
