Screws for a fin

Hello everyone,

I bought an AHD Diamond 78 but the fin came without any screws. Does anyone have any ideas where can I get some since they are not quite standard screws?

Thanks in advance,
Enis

NOt sure what kinds of screw you need, but try ace hardware. They have an asortment of metric and us type stuff. BEst to get stainless steel but hard to find in metric, if thats what you need.

Most likely you need metric (I'm guessing M5). Problem is, finding stainless metric hardware is really hard- call around to hardware/fastening stores before you drive. Home Depot will NOT carry it- don't even bother. Best next alternative is go to your favorite hardware store, get a 1/4" by 20 tap and tap the threads out and then you can use standard threaded stainless hardware.

You definitely want to go with stainless whatever you do. Or you could contact your local shop who probably have something in their trailer.

Screws for Fin AHD

Hi Enis,

the screw you will need is made of V2A anticorrosion steel, which is highly recommended if you go surf in the ocean. If you have trouble getting that screw, let me know, I can get it from a buddy in Germany, who has the same board.

west marine stores generally carry metric stainless steel screws. if there are not any in your area, they have an extensive web catalogue.

I've got screws

Enis,
West Marine or Lowes can be a useful source for ws-ing screws, but a far easier way is to call or e-mail a nearby windsurfing-only dealer and let him mail you the right screws, and easy as pie, the next day you'll have just what you need in the old mailbox. That's why I'm here.
Last year, I got tired of screwing around with screws. I bought a bunch of the longest stainless-steel metric screws I could find -- about 5 inches-- that are sold by a windsurfing accessories brand, in this case Chinook. If I don't have the exact length you need, then I cut one to length. (Or, I can send the long uncut ones to you and you can cut it with a hacksaw if you wish. Done correctly, there's no burrs or threading issues where you cut it.) If you don't know what you need, I can find out for you. Let me know if I can help.
